Sue Mark is part of "marksearch," a cultural-research team that develops interactive public art opportunities allowing people to share personal histories for empowerment and preservation. Since 2000, marksearch has collaborated with non-profits, community groups, historians, urban planners, and municipalities worldwide to create projects that move beyond aesthetic experience. On-the-street interactions invite people to create a lasting neighborhood narrative that connects local history with the lived experience of a place. Her recent project, Communities’ Crossing, a collaboration with the Golden Gate Library, local groups, and residents, fosters critical reflections about cycles of change in the Golden Gate neighborhood.
